Hadhrat Shaykh Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him)

Hadhrat Shaykh Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him) is the son and caliph of Hadhrat Shaykh Ali (May Allah shower His mercy on him).  He graced the pulpit of guidance after the passing away of his father and benefited a world with his efforts.

For a long time, he remained in Qamar Nagar and then went to Imtiyaz Nagar, Kurnool, to meet Hadhrat Syed Shah Tahir Qadri Laubali, who is famous as Hadhrat Shah Qadri.  He is the 4th son of Hadhrat Syed Shah Abdul Lateef Laubali (May Allah shower His mercy on him).

Because of the love for Hadhrat Shah Qadri (May Allah shower His mercy on him), he settled down there itself.  Hadhrat Shah Qadri (May Allah shower His mercy on him) also loved him a lot and would respect him greatly.  He has also composed poems (Qasaaid) in his praise.

Hadhrat Shaykh Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him) was blessed with the power to work miracles.  The narrator says that for a long time, a certain person wanted to becomes his disciple.  Whenever he would make this request, Hadhrat Shaykh Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him) would say:  This Faqeer (Lit. pauper, often used by the Sufi saints as an expression that they don’t desire anything from this world or that they are dependent only on the Lord Almighty for their needs) is unworthy.  There are many great saints present.  Become the disciple of any of them.  Please excuse me.

That person would say:  I am only your devotee.  Some time later, this person saw that a saint of the same era as Hadhrat Shaykh Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him) with all the grandeur due to the Mashaaikh (plural of Shaykh).  The saint is royally dressed.  He got a thought that a spiritual mentor (Pir) should be like this.  Then he thought that I am a devotee of Hadhrat Shaykh Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him) and this turning away from him is not correct.  He mentally performed Tauba for this thought.

The next day when he went to Hadhrat Shaykh Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him) and again made the same request, Hadhrat Fareed (May Allah shower His mercy on him) said:  I have been telling you from day one that this Faqeer is nothing.  There are other saints of Tariqah also who lead their lives royally.  You become their disciple and excuse me.  That person said: Hadhrat!  For the thought which crosses the thought, there is no accountability for it in light of the Shariah.  Even though, I got this thought, but from my heart, I am your disciple and this Nisbah (Lit. connection) of mine is still present and I can never turn away from it.  After a lot of efforts, he was able to become his disciple.

Thus, Allah Ta’ala had granted him many favors.  He had only 1 daughter.  As he had no male children, he took his nephews (sister’s sons) Hadhrat Syed Ali Sahab and Hadhrat Shah Ali Sahab (May Allah shower His mercy on them) as his disciples and granted them the spiritual ni’mah of the noble Laubali family.  He made Hadhrat Syed Ali (May Allah shower His mercy on him) his successor and sent Hadhrat Shah Ali Sahab (May Allah shower His mercy on him) to Arcot for propagation of Islam.

He passed away on 13th of Muharram, 1093 Hijri.  His blessed grave is in Aduni.
