The first 2 days of Haj

The first day of Haj:

On the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, offer Salaat Ul Fajr in Makkah and start for Mina after the sun rises.

In Mina:

Mina is situated approximately 5 kilometers from Makkah between 2 mountains.

Nowadays, for going to Mina, vehicles are provided by the "Muallim."  The Hajis are taken from their hotels in these cars, etc.  Most vehicles leave for Mina on the night of the 7th, so it is better to wear the Ihraam on 7th after Salaat Ul Isha, as there is no problem as per the Shariah in leaving for Mina on the night of the 7th.

On the way to Mina, we should be busy in Talbeeh, Durud and other supplications.  Reach Mina before the Zuhr.  Offering Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha of the 8th, spending the night there and offering the Fajr of the 9th in Mina is a Sunnah

Note:  If 15 days have not passed after reaching Makkah and going to Mina, then Qasr should be performed for all the Fardh Salaat, which have 4 Raka'at, i.e. offer only 2 Raka'at.

It is Mustahab to stay near Masjid Haif in Mina.  However, one may stay wherever convenient.  The government puts up tents, which are numbered for every Muallim.  One can stay there also.  In Mina, as per convenience, one should be busy in Talbeeh, Istighfaar (repentance) and other supplications.  Recite Durud as much as possible.

Note:  If for some reason, the tent is outside the boundaries of Mina, then enter the boundaries of Mina and stay at some reasonable place.

The second day of Haj:

This is the most important day of Haj, whose primary article is "Wuquf-e-Arafaat"

On the 9th Dhul Hijjah, offer Salaat Ul Fajr in Mina and say the Takbeer Tashreeq.

Takbeer Tashreeq is this:

"Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Illallahu Wallahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa Lillahi Hamd"

It is Afdhal (more excellent) to say the Takbeer Tashriq thrice after each Fardh Salaat from the Fajr of the 9th Dhul Hijjah to the Asr of the 13th Dhul Hijjah.

After this, one should be busy in Talbeeh, Dhikr and Durud.

After the sun rises and there is some light, then one should start from Mina for Arafaat.

Wuquf-e-Arafaat:

Wuquf-e-Arafaat is staying in Arafaat, be it for 1 moment after the twelve noon (Zawaal) of the 9th of Dhul Hijjah to the dawn (Subah Sadiq) of the 10th.  However, staying in Arafaat from noon until sunset is Wajib.  In Arafaat, excepting Batane 'Arana, one stay wherever one likes.  However, it is Afdhal to stay near Jabal-e-Rahmat.

One should remain busy in Talbeeh, Dhikr, Dua, Istighfaar and the 4th Kalima of Tauheed.  One should finish off eating and other activities of daily living before noon.  Then taking a bath (Ghusl) is Masnoon (Sunnah).  However, making a Wuzu is also enough.  If one is offering Salaat behind the Imam in Masjid Nimra, then Salaat Ul Zuhr and Salaat Ul 'Asr are offered with 1 Adhaan and 2 Iqaamah.  If you are offering Salaat in Arafaat, outside of Masjid Nimra, then offer Salaat Ul Zuhr and Salaat Ul 'Asr at their respective timings.

After the Salaat, one should spend the time until the sunset in crying before Allah Ta'ala, Durud, Dhikr, Dua, etc.

After the sun sets, start for Muzdalifa from Arafaat and busy yourself in Talbeeh, Takbeer, Durud and other Dua.

Note:  It is not correct to offer Salaat Ul Maghrib in Arafaat or Muzdalifa.

It is Afdhal to stay near the mountain named Mash'ar Haraam.  Neither stay in the valley of Mahsar nor pass through it.

It is a Sunnah to take a bath (Ghusl) after Muzdalifa, otherwise Wuzu is also enough.  Even if the time for Salaat Ul Maghrib is there, don’t offer it.  When the time for Salaat Ul Isha starts, offer both Salaat with one Adhaan and one Iqaamah with the intention (Niyyah) of offering the actual Salaat and not Qaza of the Salaat.  It is Wajib to offer Salaat Ul Maghrib and Salaat Ul Isha combined at the time of Salaat Ul Isha.  It is Afdhal to offer it with the congregation (Jam'aat).  Don’t offer the Sunnah of Maghrib Salaat after Fardh, but offer the Fardh of Isha instead.  Then offer the Sunnah of Maghrib, then the Sunnah and Witr of Isha.  It is a Sunnah Moukkada (compulsory Sunnah) to spend the night in Muzdalifa.

After offering Salaat, spend the time in Talbeeh, Takbeer, Durud and crying before Allah Ta'ala and supplicating.  It is Wajib to stay in Muzdalifa in the time interval dawn (Subah Sadiq) and the first light of the day, at least for some time.  It is a Sunnah to stay there until the sun rises.  It is Mustahab (commendable) to offer Salaat Ul Fajr at the earliest time.
