Lecture In Jeddah

In view of the Magnificence of the Holy month of Ramadan, special instructions made to excel in good deeds and to abstain from bad.

Addressing the congregation held on 23 August 2009, after the Taraweeh Salaat (prayer) in Jeddah, Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Syed Zia uddin Naqshbandi Sahab Qiblah (Naib Shaikh ul Fiqh – Jami Nizamia, Founder & President – AHIRC) said that, repentance is actually feeling guilty on one's sin and determination of not repeating the same sinful deed again.

Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) said: "O the believers! Repent in the presence of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) with true heart." (Surah At-Tahrim: 8)

It is clearly evident through this Ayah (verse) that, one should restrain oneself from evil acts, feel guilty upon them and repent with precise heart on the sins committed because of negligence and idleness, Illiteracy and Ignorance.

Continuing his speech, Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Syed Zia uddin Naqshbandi Sahab Qiblah said that regarding Tauba Nathu (True repentance), companion of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) Hadhrat Ma'adh Bin Jabal (May Allah SWT be well pleased with him) asked the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) stating, "What is True repentance?" On that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, "True repentance is that the person should feel guilty upon his sin committed, apologize in the presence of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) and never ever return back towards it same as the milk doesn't retreat in the udder."

It is given in the Hadith of Sunan Ibne Majah, Maujame Kabeer Tabrani, Baihqi Shuaib ul Imaan, Majmauz Zawaid and Kanzul Ummal that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

Translation: "A person who repents upon his sin is like one, who never committed it."

During his speech, Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Syed Zia uddin Naqshbandi Sahab Qiblah said, that it is stated by Hadhrat Hasan Basri (May Allah SWT be well pleased with him) that, "True repentance is that you hate committing sins as you did love committing them and whenever you remember it, seek forgiveness for it."

Whenever a person makes true repentance, Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) accepts it. As stated by Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala):

Translation: And He it is Who accepteth repentance from His bondmen, and pardoneth the evil deeds, and knoweth what ye do (Surah Ash-Shura: 25)

It is given in Tafseer ul Kabeer and Al Jamia ul Ahkam ul Quran that once a person arrived in the presence of Hadhrat Hasan Basri (May Allah SWT be well pleased with him) and complained about the drought stricken year. Hadhrat Hasan Basri (May Allah SWT be well pleased with him) said, "Seek forgiveness from Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala)." One more person arrived in his presence and complained about the starvation. He even gave him the same reply. A third person arrived and requested for a male child. He gave the same answer to even the third person. One more person arrived and said, "My garden desolated and has became fruitless." He even gave him the same reply that to seek pardon from Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala). The viewers sitting their asked Hadhrat Hasan Basri (May Allah SWT be well pleased with him), "Though different people posed different requests before you, then why did you gave them the same reply?" On that he said, "I didn't say any thing from me but it is stated by Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) in Surah Nuh that:

Translation: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. (10) He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, (11) And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. (12) (Surah Nuh: 10/12)

At this congregation held in Jeddah, Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Syed Zia uddin Naqshbandi Sahab Qiblah at last said: In view of the Holy month of Ramadan, abstain from the previous sins, displeased by the sins; one should devote himself/herself completely towards executing good deeds. Grace up your every moment of this Holy month, by the remembrance of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) and His beloved prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).
