Hadhrat Fatima (May Allah be well pleased with her)

Syeda Fatima Zahra (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with her) is the youngest and most beloved daughter of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  She is also the leader of the women of Jannah.

Allah Ta’ala has ordered us to love the Ahle Bait (The family and kinsfolk of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)) as given in Surah Shura:

Say: ‘I do not ask for any recompense for this (preaching the faith in Messengership) but (seek) love for (my) kindreds and (my and Allah’s) nearness.’  Surah Shura (42:23)

Again in Surah Ahzaab:

Allah intends only to remove all impurity of sins from you, O People of the House (of the Prophet, [even a doubt or trace of shortfall,]) and make you absolutely pure and clean by blessing you with (perfect) purity and wholesomeness.  Surah Ahzaab (33:33)

This verse of the Holy Quran establishes that Allah Ta’ala has shielded the Ahle Bait from every kind of blemish and defect.  Be it intellectual, in beliefs or manners, or external and internal.  Hadhrat Ummul Momineen Syeditna Umme Salma (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with her) says about the background of the revelation of this verse (Shaan-e-Nuzul) of this verse:

Translation: Umme Salma (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) says that when the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was gracing my house with His presence, at that time this verse of the Holy Quran was revealed.  After this verse was revelaed, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) summoned Hadhrat Syeda Fatima Zahra, Hadhrat Ali, Hadhrat Hasan and Hadhrat Hussain (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with all of them).  Then the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: These are my Ahle Bait.  Ummul Momineen Hadhrat Umme Salma (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with her) asked: O Prophet of Allah Ta’ala! Am I not among your Ahle Bait? He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Why not?

Reason behind naming her as “Fatima” (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with her):

There is a Hadith narrated from Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) in Kanz Ul Ummal that Syeda Fatima (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) was named as Fatima (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) because Allah Ta’ala has freed her and those who love and revere her from Hell.

(Kanz Ul Ummal-34227)

Translation: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abdullah bin Abbas (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) offered the Salaat (namaaz) of 'Asr.  When the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was in the 4th raka'at, Hasan and Hussain (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with them).  So much so that they climbed on the blessed back of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) seated them in front of Him.  Hadhrat Hasan (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) came forward.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) lifted him on His right shoulder and lifted Imam Hussain (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) on His left shoulder.  Then He said, "O people! Shall I tell you who are they whose maternal grandfather and grandmother are better than the whole world? Shall I tell you who are they whose paternal uncle and aunt are better than everybody's paternal uncle and aunt? Shall I tell you who are they whose maternal uncle and aunt are better than everybody's maternal uncle and aunt? Shall I tell you who are they whose mother and father are better than everybody's mother and father? Listen! They are Hasan and Hussain (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him).  Their maternal grandfather is the Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam); their maternal grandmother is Hadhrat Khadija (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with her); their mother is Hadhrat Fatima (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with her); their father is Hadhrat Ali bin Abi Talib (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him); their paternal uncle is Ja'afar bin Abi Talib (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him); their paternal aunt is Hadhrat Umme Hani bint Abi Talib (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with her); their maternal uncle is Hadhrat Qasim, the son of the Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam); their maternal aunts are Zainab, Ruqaiya, Umme Kulthoom (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with them).  Their maternal grandfather is in heaven; their father is in heaven, their maternal grandmother is in heaven; their mother is in heaven; their paternal uncle is in heaven; their maternal aunts are in heaven and their sister is in heaven and whoever loves them will also be in heaven.

There is a Hadith in Mojam Kabir Tabarani:
