The Holy Quran

The Holy Quran is the Word of Allah Ta’ala.  Respecting and honoring it is compulsory for every Muslim, This is the pure speech of Allah Ta’ala.  The Holy Quran has got a special relationship with the month of Ramadhan.  As given in the Holy Quran:

The month of Ramadan (is that) in which the Qur’an has been sent down as guidance for mankind containing clear Signs which lead (to the straight road) and distinguish (the Truth from falsehood). Therefore, he who witnesses this month must fast it, and he who is ill or on a journey should complete the count by (fasting on equal number of) other days. Allah desires ease for you and does not desire hardship for you so that you complete the prescribed number of fasting days, and that you glorify Him for the guidance which He has blessed you with, and that you may become grateful.  Surah Baqarah (2:185)

The Sahabah would increase the recitation of the Holy Quran in this blessed month.  As given in the Hadith:

Translation of Hadith: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Anas Bin Malik (May Allah be well pleased with him) that when the companions (Sahabah) of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would see the moon for Shabaan, they would keep the Holy Quran close to their bosoms and busy themselves in its recitation.  Al Ghunya Lit Talibi Li Tariqil Haqqi, Vol. 1, Pg. No. 188)

The status of those memorize it is beyond all reckoning.  The excellence of the Hafidh of the Holy Quran is established in many Hadith.  The great Muhaddith (Hadith-expert) of the 10th century, Ali Muttaqi Hindi (May Allah Ta’ala shower His Mercy on him) has recorded Hadith in Kanz Ul Ummal about the excellence and superiority of a Hafidh:

Translation of Hadith: The Hafidh of the Holy Quran is the standard-bearer of Islam.  Whoever respects a Hafidh, undoubtedly respects Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala).  Allah's (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) curse is on those who disrespects a Hafidh.

(Kanz Ul Ummal, Hadith No: 2294)

There is a Hadith in Musnad Ahmed:

Translation of Hadith: Hadhrat Abdullah bin Amr (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) narrates from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

It will be told to a Hafidh of the Holy Quran: Keep reciting the Holy Quran and keep ascending the stations of Jannah.  Recite with Tartil (slowly, following the rules of recitation) the way you recited in the world, because your final station (of Jannah) will be where you are when you recite the last verse of the Holy Quran.  (Musnad Ahmed, 6508)
