Dhikr -1

Set aside a specific time of solitude for performing Dhikr (remembrance) of Allah Ta'ala.   Regardless of whether the heart is in it or not, always keep your tongue fresh and moist with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala.  The reward of it is that you will be Allah's and He will be yours.

Make Taqwa (piety) compulsory upon yourself.  Fear Allah Ta'ala and follow all His commandments, save yourself from all that He has forbidden and always remain busy in obeying the commandments of Allah Ta'ala and His beloved Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  Except from what is necessary, spend all your remaining time by being Muraqib (absorbed) and performing Dhikr of Allah Ta'ala and keep performing the Dhikr as taught by me without any lapse.  While doing Dhikr, keep in mind that whatever Dhikr I'm making is only to create the love of Allah Ta'ala in one's heart and also to gain His acquaintance.

My son! Perform Dhikr of Allah Ta'ala as much as possible, so much so that every cell of the body becomes a tongue and this is the only thing which gets a slave closer to Allah Ta'ala.  Along with this, offering Salaat with congregation and profuse recitation of Durood e Shareef makes the heart radiant.  Go to visit the blessed graves of the saints.  Don’t consider them as dead and gone.  They are alive.  The way they would bestow blessings during their earthly life, they bestow the blessings even now.  There is much Barakah in performing Dhikr sitting before them.  Also recite the Holy Quran there with proper propriety.  This creates Noor in the heart.

Whatever time is left after necessary works and fulfillment of Huqooq e Ibaad (Rights of human beings upon each other), spend it in the Dhikr of Allah Ta'ala.  Don't take useless things to be necessities.  Often we consider useless things as important and are busy in them.  Such foolish persons are not left with any (free) time.  Thus, they make the excuse of not being able to perform Dhikr of Allah Ta'ala.  This is a deception of the Nafs (self).  Save yourself from it.  Take out some time for performing Dhikr.  Perform Dhikr profusely.  Dhikr is the most essential ingredient of the medicines that cure the diseases of the heart.

O son!  Remembrance of Allah Ta'ala is the sole purpose of human life.  All the creation is busy in His remembrance.  If human beings, in spite of the cream of all creation, are heedless of His remembrance, this is most unfair.  It is the grace of Allah Ta'ala that He has guided you to remember of Him.  Don't worry about the stray thoughts that cross your mind.  With profuse Dhikr, they themselves will lessen if Allah Ta'ala wills so.

O son!  One task is yours and the other is of Allah Ta'ala.  Your task is to perform Dhikr and His task is to generate its effects.  You continue performing your task.  Whenever Allah Ta'ala wills, He will do His task.

Waiting for peace of mind for making remembrance of Allah Ta'ala is simply waste.  In fact, the means of attaining peace of mind is that one keeps oneself absolutely immersed in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala and to be forever mindful of Allah Ta'ala.  Whatever is happening, one should consider it as the will of Allah Ta'ala and should consider that whatever is there belongs to Allah Ta'ala.  The King has the right to do whatever He wants in his kingdom.  We are worried only because we think that everything is ours and we make plans for them as well.  When these plans fail, we become displeased.  This is the root of all worry.  If this root is uprooted and we don’t consider anything to be our own and don't make plans for them, we accept whatever is decided from the hidden realm; then there will not be even a shadow of a worry.  On the other hand, when the heart is filled with the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala, then there would be such peace and tranquility in one's heart, that one would feel the pleasure of Jannah in this world itself.  The verse of the Holy Quran: "Be careful! Hearts attain peace and harmony through the remembrance of Allah" (13 Para) indicates the same.  Therefore son!  Don't stop Dhikr and surrender every obligation to Allah Ta'ala

Be regular in performing Salaat with congregation and keep obeying the commandments of the Shariah.  Whatever free time you get, spend it in Dhikr of Allah Ta'ala, as it is the only thing that will benefit you.  This world and everything in this world is to go.  Set y our heart on Allah Ta'ala, who is eternal.
