The generosity of Hadhrat 'Uthman (May Allah be well pleased with him)

The generosity of Hadhrat ‘Uthman

(May Allah be well pleased with him)

The mother of the believers Hadhrat ‘Aisha Siddiqua (May Allah be well pleased with her) says:  Four days had passed and the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) had not had anything to eat.  The children were wailing.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) came and asked:  Did anything come when I was not present?  I answered:  If Allah Most High does not give anything through your blessed hands, how can anything come?  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) made His ablutions and went and started offering Supererogatory Salaat and supplicating.

In the meantime, Hadhrat ‘Uthman (May Allah be well pleased with him) came and asked for permission to enter.  I thought that he is an affluent Companion whom Allah Most High had sent and granted him permission to enter.  He asked:  Where is the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)?  I said:  Since 4 days, His house has not had a morsel to eat.  On hearing this, Hadhrat ‘Uthman (May Allah be well pleased with him) started crying and said:  How bad is this world!  He then said:  O mother of the believers!  You are facing such a situation and you didn’t tell me or ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Auf or Thabit bin Qais (May Allah be well pleased with them)?

He went away and returned after some time with many camels laden with flour, wheat, dates and skinned goats and a bag with 300 Dirham.  He then went away saying:  It will take a lot of time to prepare all this.  Sometime later he returned with rotis and a lot of fried meat.  He requested me:  Whenever there is such a situation, tell me.

When the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) came, I informed him of all that had happened.  On this, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) went to the mosque, raised His hands and said:  O My Lord!  I am pleased with ‘Uthman, You also be pleased with him.  (Izaalatul Khafa, Vol. 2, Pg. No. 455/456)

Hadhrat ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (May Allah be well pleased with them) says:  I had the honor of seeing the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in a dream.  He was mounted on a strong mule and riding fast.  He had on radiant garments.  In His hands was a radiant stick.  Even the strings of His shoes were also radiant.

I inquired:  May my parents be sacrificed for You!  Where are you going?  He replied:  ‘Uthman has given goods of 1000 camels in charity.  Almighty Allah has accepted it and has solemnized his marriage with a damsel of paradise.  I am going to the marriage of ‘Uthman (May Allah be well pleased with him).  (Izaalatul Khafa, Vol. 2, Pg. No. 457)
