Some questions about the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

Some questions about the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

A question was about the food taken by the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).

The answer is that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would have food only in the quantity that it was necessary, so much that it would be fuel for the body and never would He fill His stomach.

It is established on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Aisha (May Allah be well pleased with her) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would never eat His fill.  With the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), the best food would be the one which was shared by many i.e. He would eat with a group and not alone.

It is mentioned in a Hadith that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  Some morsels are enough for the progeny of Adam that would keep their backs straight.  If one cannot remain patient on that, then one should eat to the extent of the third of the stomach, one-third with water and one-third for breathing.

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would recite:  Bismillah before eating and this act is a Compulsory Sunnah (Sunnah Moukkadah).

The sleep of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was also in moderation.  His blessed heart would not sleep.  Only His eyes would rest.

The clothes of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) were of a few kinds.  He would wear both fine clothes and ordinary clothes as well.  He would use more of cotton clothes.  He has also used woolen clothes.  The summary is that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would not be overly formal in His clothing.  Whatever He would get, He would wear.

The day of the birth and the demise of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is Monday.  He passed away in the last part of this day.  After the day of Tuesday passed, at midnight of the following night and as per another narration, in the last part of the night, the blessed body of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was laid to rest.

You have also asked the age of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  There are a few opinions in this regard.  As per one opinion, it is 60 years.  As per another it is 63 and this is the most authoritative opinion and as per one, it is 65 years.

The scholars have reconciled all this opinions in this manner that those who hold it to be 63 have not included the year of birth and the year of demise.  Those who hold it to be 65 have included both of them and those who have said it is 60 have counted only the decades and not the individual years.
