Daily recitations and prayers

Hadhrat Khaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) says:  For the person who fixes some recitations (Awraad or Wazaaif) for himself (or herself), reciting them regularly is necessary.  If due to some extraordinary engagements, one cannot recite them on the fixed time, then one should complete them at night before sleeping.  As far as possible, one should recite them on the fixed time only.  Only after that should one engage in worldly pursuits as it is mentioned in Hadith that recitations should not be abandoned.

He also said:  Once, Hadhrat Maulana Raziuddin (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) fell down from the back of a horse because of which his left leg was broken.  When he came home, he thought why he was facing this tribulation.  Then he remembered that every morning, he would recite Surah Yaseen after Salaat Ul Fajr and that day he had not recited it.

He also said: A saint Hadhrat Khaja ‘Abdullah Mubarak (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) could not engage in his daily recitations.  At that time, a voice was heard:  O ‘Abdullah!  The promise which you had made to us, maybe you have forgotten it, which meant that he had not done his fixed recitations.

He also said:  The Prophets (May peace be upon them), the saints, shaykhs and other men of God keep performing their fixed recitations without fail.  Whatever they hear from their Lord Almighty and their elder shaykhs, they obey it.

Hadhrat Ghouse Azam (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) says:  The world is ephemeral and eternity is reserved only for the hereafter.  You are nothing more than a traveler.  One day or the other, this journey of yours will come to an end and you will have to rest only after reaching your real abode.  Thus, it is necessary that you don’t become anxious due to the travails of the journey and Keep striving for your real abode.  In this limited time, do those things from which you will keep gaining benefit forever.

Hadhrat Khaja Bahauddin Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) said:  Become a seeker of steadfastness and don’t become a seeker of miracles!  All success and progress is gained through steadfastness.  If there is no steadfastness, everything is futile.
