Almighty Allah does not like the transgressors

Verily Allah does not like the transgressors’ (2:190)

Allah, the Exalted, says that He does not like those who trespass the limits of the Shariah (Bayaan Ul Quran).

Don’t trespass the bounds set by the Shariah, don’t be extravagant even in permissible and lawful things (Khulaasatut Tafaseer)

So much so that even someone does not supplicate in the manner which we have been ordered to, for example someone supplicates in an extremely loud voice or supplicates for something which he is not worthy of like acquiring the status of the Prophets or ascending towards the sky.  This will also be considered to be crossing the limits in supplication.  (Ruh Al Bayan)

…eat and drink: but waste not by excess for Allah loveth not the wasters (7:31)

Allah Most High does not have love for people who spend more than necessary.  (Khulaasatut Tafaseer).

Allah Most High does not love those who spend extravagantly.  (Haqqani).  Spending unreasonably and out of occasion is extravagance.  Thus, going against the demands of the Shariah is prohibited, going against the demands of intelligence is harmful and going against the demands of the society and customs results in ridicule and mocking.  Extravagance is anyhow a condemnable thing.

Rule of the Shariah:  Eating to keep body and soul together so that the person does not die is Compulsory (Wajib).  Eating to gain strength for the Commendable acts and for one’s taste is permissible.  Eating more than that is harmful and prohibited.  (Khulaasatut Tafaseer).

Anecdote of Hadhrat Ali Bin Hussein (R.A)

Hadhrat ‘Ali bin Hussain (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) was once asked by an expert Christian doctor: Knowledge is of two types:  Knowledge of religion and knowledge of medicine.  Your book (the Holy Quran) is just for knowledge of religion.  Does it contain anything about medicine?  Hadhrat ‘Ali bin Hussain (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) answered: The entire knowledge of medicine is gathered in half a verse of our book.  The doctor asked what it is.  He recited:

Eat and drink, but don’t be extravagant (as all diseases arise through this only).

Then that doctor asked:  Is anything about medicine narrated from your Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) as well?  He was replied:  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has gathered all medicine in a few words.  The doctor asked:  What is it?  Hadhrat ‘Ali bin Hussain (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) said:

Stomach is the abode of diseases.

The best among all medicines is avoidance.

Give a body whatever it is used to.  Giving it something which it is not used to spoils your health.

The Christian doctor said:  Your book and your Prophet have left no place for Galen.
