The Meraj of other Prophets (May peace be upon them)

The Meraj of other Prophets

(May peace be upon them)

Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) warned his nation of the wrath of Allah Most High and told them that if they didn’t the wrath of Allah Most High would descend on them in a period of time.  When that period came closer, Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) left the area out of the fear that the wrath of Almighty Allah would descend.  However, he did not take any clear permission of Allah  Most High for doing so.

Here, when that period came closer and the signs of divine wrath became apparent, the nation became anxious and inclined towards believing in Allah Most High and started searching for Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) so that they could affirm their faith at his hands.  When they could not find him, they said:  What if we cannot find him, we can still believe in him and in Allah Most High.  Thus, they believed and the punishment was dispelled.

Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) kept asking people the condition of that locality.  When he did not hear of any punishment, he thought that if he went back to them, they would taunt him saying that the punishment of Allah Most High did not come as you had said.  Out of embarrassment, he did not remain where he was but kept going further.

He had to cross a river in the course of his journey and he boarded a ship.  That ship started swaying.  The helmsman said:  It seems some runaway slave is on this ship.  Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) said:  Yes brother!  I have run away without the permission of my master.  Throw me into the river.  People saw the signs of piety and greatness on his face and didn’t believe in this.  At last lots were drawn in which the name of Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) came up.  Thus, people threw him overboard.

In the river a huge fish swallowed Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) with the command of Allah Most High and took him into the depths of the river.  He remained in the fish’s belly for 40 days, but the fish couldn’t digest him.  Almighty Allah protected him in every way.  There, Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) had his Meraj.

Hadhrat Ibraheem (May peace be upon him) was cast into fire.  He had his Meraj there itself.

Hadhrat Younus (May peace be upon him) remains in the belly of the fish for 40 days without air!

Hadhrat Ibraheem (May peace be upon him) remains unhurt in the fire!

Similarly the Meraj of our Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  Even though, the intellect might not accept it, but whatever happened, happened with the power of Allah Most High.

Look at the way Prophet Younus (May peace be upon him) went and look at the way our Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) went.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is resting after Salaat Ul ‘Isha and Jibreel (May peace be upon him) comes and wakes Him saying:  O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)!  Allah Most High calls You.

Others’ Meraj was not going out of their own free will.  The Meraj of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was out of His own free will.  It was an outing.  That’s why for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), the word “Isra” is used which means to travel.
