Relations with non-Muslims - Teachings of the Prophet of Mercy(Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

 Monetary help to non-Muslims

It is a special characteristic of Muslims to spend on non-Muslims and to sympathize with them in periods of crises and difficulties.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has Himself set an example in this regard:

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ خَمْسَمِائَةِ دِينَارٍ إلَى مَكَّةَ حِينَ قَحَطُوا وَأَمَرَ بِدَفْعِهَا إلَى أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حَرْبٍ وَصَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ لِيُفَرِّقَا عَلَى فُقَرَاءِ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ

Translation: A year when the people of Makkah were in the clutches of a famine, the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam sent 500 Dirhams to Abu Sufyan bin Harb and to Safwan bin Umayya to distribute them among the poor and destitute of Makkah.[1]

Can there be a greater example than this of humanity and brotherhood?  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is helping those people who left no stone unturned in torturing and tormenting Muslims to the extent that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and His Companions had to leave their ancestral homes, wealth and property and emigrate to Madina.
