f:999 - What to do if time for Salaat Ul Fajr starts when offering Salaat Ul Tahajjud	Country : India, Name : Muhammad Abdullah

Question: I offer Tahajjud regularly during my exams. Once, I got up late and when I was offering Tahajjud, my elder brother called out to me that I should break my Salaat as the time for Fajr had started. What should I have done? ............................................................................
Answer: If Tahajjud or some other supererogatory Salaat is being offered in the last part of the night and after offering 1 Raka’at, the time for Salaat Ul Fajr starts, then it is better to complete the whole Salaat (i.e. 2 Raka’at). This supererogatory Salaat will not be considered to be the Sunnah of Salaat Ul Fajr. It will have to be offered separately. As mentioned in Fatawa A’alamgiri, Kitab Us Salaat.
