f:98 -    Keeping quiet for worth three Tasbihaat (glorifications)!
Country : Pune,
Name : submittername
Question:     Does keeping quiet in salaat for the time equal to three Tasbihaat (glorifications) make Sajda Sahw (prostration of forgetfulness) as Wajib (compulsory)?

............................................................................
Answer:     Delaying of an act (Takheer-e-Rukn) and delaying of a compulsory article (Takheer-e-Wajib) make Sajdah Sahw (prostration of forgetfulness) compulsory (Wajib).  If a person in the salaat stays quiet for time enough to complete an act of Salaat, then it is called as delaying an act (Ta'kheer-e-Rukn) or delaying of compulsory article (Ta'kheer-e-Wajib).  The time equal to completing an act is mentioned as time enough for the recitation of three Tasbihaat.  Therefore, if a person keeps quiet for a period equivalent enough for the recitation of three glorifications (i.e. Subhana rabbi a'ala or Subhana rabbi al azeem or the like), then he/she should make the Sajda Sahw.

As given in Raddul Muhtar Alal Darul Mukhtar' Vol. No. 1, Pg. No. 558:

At Pg. No. 74/473 in the conditions of Salaat, it is mentioned as:
