Question: If a person is offering Nafl Salaat and someone comes and under the impression that this person is offering Fardh Salaat, offers Salaat under that person, then is that person?s Salaat valid? ............................................................................
Answer: According to the Hanafi School of Fiqh, offering a Fardh Salaat behind a person offering Nafl Salaat does not complete the Fardh Salaat. That person will have offered only a Nafl Salaat and the Fardh Salaat still will have to offered. In the opinion of Imam Shaf’aee, it is completed. And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) knows best.
