Question:     Can we play chess or is it wrong?

Answer:     As per the Hanafi school of Fiqh, playing chess is impermissible.  As given in Fatawa A'alamgiri, Kitab Ul Karahiyya and in Radd Ul Muhtaar.

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) knows best.
