Question:     Is working in a bank in an Islamic country which indulges in interest-based transactions is allowed or not?
............................................................................
Answer:     Allah Ta'ala has declared business as Halal and usury as forbidden.  Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Quran:

That is because they say: Trade is like usury, but Allah hath permitted trade and forbidden usury.  Surah Baqarah (2:275)

About bank interest, the ruling is different for Islamic counties and non-Islamic countries.  In non-Islamic countries, Foul Sale (Ba'yah Fasida) is permissible.  If extra amount is gained in dealing with a non-Muslim without resorting to any cheating or deception, etc., then it will not be called usury and it is permissible to use it.

In an Islamic country, the same transaction is termed as usury, which is forbidden.  As Allama Burhanuddin Farghani (May Allah Ta'ala shower His mercy on him) relates a Hadith in Al Hidayah, Vol. 3, Pg. No. 86.

Thus, working in a bank, which indulges in interest-based transactions in Saudi Arabia is not allowed.

And Allah knows best.
