f:733 -    Sneezing in Salaat

Question:     When we sneeze, we say Alhamdulillah.  If we sneeze while offering Salaat and involuntarily say Alhamdulillah, does it invalidate the Salaat?

Answer:     While offering Salaat, except the verses of the Holy Quran and the recitations of the Salaat, nothing else should be recited.  If any person sneezes while offering Salaat, then he/she should not say "Alhamdulillah" with the tongue.  But can say this in the heart.  Still, it is better that he/she should not say anything either with his tongue or in the heart, but remain silent.

If the person who sneezes says "Alhamdulillah" in the Salaat, the Salaat is not invalidated and it is not necessary to repeat the Salaat as given in Fatawa A’alamgiri Vol. I, Kitab Us Salaat.
