Question: I have a hobby of rearing animals and we also have a pet goat in our house. Once, something unclean fell into the food and my eldest son fed that to the goat. My question is can we give unclean food like this to animals. ............................................................................
Answer: The way Shariah has described the rights of human beings, in the same way it has described the right of animals also in detail. The Shariah has prohibited from oppressing animals, from forcing them to work beyond their capacity and from every such act which hurts and/or harms them. Thus, the jurists have said that it is impermissible to feed unclean food to those animals whose meat is permissible to consume. As given in Fatawa A'alamgiri, Vol. 5, Kitab Ul Karahiyya, Pg No. 344) And Allah Most High knows best.
