f:713 -    What if not able to complete Tashahud in Salaat with Jamaat
Country : Oman,
Name : Muhammad Salam
Question:     I was present in the first sitting (Qaida) of Salaat Ul Zuhr.  Before I could complete the Tashahud, Imam stood up for Qiyaam of the third Raka?at.  I too stood up without completing Tashahud along with the Imam. I want to know whether my prayer is valid or not? Please provide me answer.

Answer:     If a follower is present in congregational Salaat during Tashahud of either first or last sitting of Salaat and the Imam stands up for third Raka’at of Salaat or ends the Salaat in the last sitting, and the follower has failed to complete the Tashahud and follows the Imam (either standing up for the next Raka’at or ending it), then the Salaat is considered to be valid.  Still, it is better to complete the Tashahud.

You were present in the first sitting  and stood up for the 3rd Raka’at following the Imam without completing it.  Thus, your Salaat will be considered valid.  Certainly, it would have been better if you had completed it.

And Allah Most High knows best.
