Question: When we stand up for Salaat, our intention is to offer a particular Salaat, but we end up saying the Niyyah for some other Salaat. Which Salaat will that be considered, given that what we said was a mistake? ............................................................................
Answer: The intention (Niyyah) is a resolve of the heart. It is to be uttered only to harmonize the tongue and the heart, so as to increase the concentration. Therefore, if somebody makes the intention for some Salaat while the real intention is for some other Salaat, then the Shariah will accept the intention of the heart as the true one, as in this context, the resolve of the heart is considered reliable.
