f:588 -    Using gold and silver vessels for eating
 Country : Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh,
Name : Ahsan Ajmal
Question:     I saw in somebody's house that vessels of silver are being used.  Can men also use such vessels or like jewelry, these are also prohibited?

Answer:     Using vessels of gold or silver for eating or the like is neither allowed for men nor for women.  Thus, they should not be used.  If vessels of gold and silver are kept in the house as ornaments and the intention is not of pride, then there is no problem.  As given in Fatawa A'alamgiri, Vol. 5, Pg No. 433 and Pg No. 953.
