Question: Assalamalaikum wa rahmatullah, I have 2 questions: Can parents give away their child to their relatives? And what if somebody says that building the bathroom on the right hand side is "Manhoos" ............................................................................
Answer: Walaikumassalam wa rahmathullah hi wa barkatuhu’ Parents can give their child to others, but the lineage of the child will be through the biological parents only. Those who bring up the boy or girl do not become the parents, they are guardians and the child is not their progeny (aulad). These children are called foster-children. Allah Most High says in Surah Ahzaab. Translation: And Allah Most High has not made your foster-son as your (own) son. This shows that a lady can give her boy or girl to her sister, but the children will be considered their children only. The bathroom can be constructed in any way as per convenience. This belief that if the bathroom is constructed on the right hand side is inauspicious is totally wrong. And Allah Most High knows best.
