f:378 -    Giving party to teachers at the end of the academic year
Country : Godavari, India,
Name : Shareef Ahmed
Question:     We see in schools that students that at the end of the academic year the students give a party to the teachers, in which successful students and those who get good marks are at the forefront.  In some schools, teachers are given some items or money as gift.  The question is does this come under bribe?
............................................................................
Answer:     When the students study with their own hard work and gain knowledge from the teachers, then on their success or at the end of the academic year, out of their own happiness or as a form of thankfulness to the teachers, if they give a party to the teachers or give them some gifts, then as per the Shariah, there is no problem in it.  This does not come under bribe.

On the other hand, if the teachers demand a party or gifts, to pass the students, then this demand is not correct, but comes under bribe.  As given in Radd Ul Muhtaar, Kitabul Qadhaa

And Allah Most High knows best.
