f:367 -    Removing extra finger through operation

Question:     I have a question for you.  I have a small daughter who has 6 fingers on her right hand.  Can this finger be removed through operation?  Somebody gave me this advice.  Does the Shariah permit this?

Answer:     If there is no danger to the life of the girl because of the operation, then it can be done.  If there is such danger then it cannot be done.  You please refer to the doctors about this.  As given in Fatawa A’alamgiri, Vol. 5, Pg. No. 350.
