f:347 -    Prostration on listening to the Holy Quran through loud speaker
Country : India,
Name : Kabeer
Question:     In some mosques, lessons of the Holy Quran are arranged, in which the Tafseer of the Holy Quran is taught.  For the sake of people, loud speakers are also used.  If any person listens to an Aayat-e-Sajda through the loud speaker, then does Sajda Tilawat become Wajib on that person?
............................................................................
Answer:     Loud speaker is a device to make one's voice louder (i.e. to amplify it).  The scholars have held different opinions regarding that.  Some consider it to be an echo, other only a device to amplify one's voice.  The voice heard through a loud speaker is the actual voice of the speaker and not an echo or the like.

If any person listens to the actual verse of the Holy Quran, which makes performing a prostration compulsory for the listener, then the prostration becomes Compulsory (Wajib) on that person.  However, if the voice being played in a loud speaker or on the television is a prerecorded voice, then a prostration is not necessary on that person.  As given in Fatawa A'alamgiri, Vol. 5, Pg No. 133

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) knows best.
