f:291 -    Selling lovebirds
Country : India,
Name : Muhammad Abrar Ul Haq
Question:     Is trade in live birds permissible? Like lovebirds, etc.

............................................................................
Answer:     Regardless of whether it is permissible to eat them or not, trade in all birds is permissible as long as the bird is in the ownership and possession of the seller and he/she can pass on the possession to the buyer, as written by Allama Ibn A'abideen Shami (May Allah shower His mercy on him).

However, if the bird is in one's ownership, but is flying in the air, then the sale of such a bird is invalid as per the Shariah.

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) knows best.
