Question: My name is Muhammad Zaki. Until now, I have been writing Mohd. For Muhammad due to lack of space. A person told me that it is disrespect to the Prophet's name and that I should either write it in full or not write it at all. Please help me. ............................................................................
Answer: Abbreviating the Holy Prophet's (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) name and writing Mohd. for Muhammad and writing Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam in any short form is also not correct. However, an allowance can be made for such official documents in which name "Mohd." has been written and now cannot be changed. Still, respect demands that the full name should be written.
