f:245 -    Question about the Covenant
Country : India,
Name : Muizuddin
Question:     At the time of "Ahd-e- Meethaaq," was the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) actually present?  Please give a detailed answer.

............................................................................
Answer:     The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was created and born before the creation of the whole universe and He came last of all.  There is a Hadith on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said in the Tafseer of the verse of Meethaq:

Of all the Prophets, I was the first to be created and I was sent last of all. (Dalaail Un Nubuwwa Li Abi Nu'aim)

This Hadith shows that at the time of the Covenant (Meethaaq), the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was actually present (Bil F'el in Urdu) and not in some other way (Bil Quwwah in Urdu).  It does not mean that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was present in the Knowledge of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) or in some other virtual way.

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has also said:  He was a Prophet even when Hadhrat Adam (May peace be upon him) was between soul and body, i.e. in the throes of creation.

(Jame' Tirmidhi, Hadith No: 3542; Mustadrak, Vol. 8, Pg No. 438, Hadith No: 4174; Mo’jam Kabeer, Hadith No: 17220/17221; Jame' Ul Ahadith Harfil Ba 10443; Sharh Mushkil ul Aathaar, Hadith No: 5976)

Hadhrat Muhammad bin Yousuf Saleh Shaami (May Allah shower His mercy on him) also supports this opinion in his book Subul Ul Huda War Rashad, Vol. 1, Pg No. 79.

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) knows best.
