f:235 -    When should the sacrificial animal be skinned
Country : India,
Name : Ali
Question:     On the first day of Eid Ul Azha, many Qurbani are performed and the butchers are in a hurry to earn as much as possible.  They start skinning the animal immediately after the sacrifice.  Is this method correct?
............................................................................
Answer:     Shariah not only asks the affluent people to sacrifice an animal, but also gives the detailed rules about distribution of the meat, the use of the skin and the rules of sacrificing the animal.

As regards to skinning the animal, the Shariah says that the animal should be skinned after it is completely lifeless and the body of the animal becomes completely still.  To start skinning the animal before this is Undesirable (Makruh).

As mentioned in Fatawa A'alamgiri, Vol. 5, Kitab Ul Adhiyya, Pg No. 300.

And Allah Most High knows best.
