f:218 -    If menses start in Haj
Country : Nanded,
Name : Ali Naqshbandi Qadri
Question:     Women do not offer Salaat in their menses, and if in Ramadhan, they do not fast; they make up (qaza) for it later.  If menses start during Haj, what should women do?  Please reply in the light of the Holy Quran and Hadith.
............................................................................
Answer:     If a woman starts menstruating during Haj, she can complete all the articles of Haj, but she should not enter Masjid Haraam and should not perform Tawaf, as given in Sahih Bukhari, Vol 1, bab taqdhi haidh il manasik kullaha ila Tawaf bibait, Pg No. 232:
Translation: It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Aisha (May Allah SWT be well pleased with her), she says: I came to Makkah Mukarramah, while I was in my periods.  Neither did I perform Tawaf, nor the Sae'e.  Hadhrat Aisha Siddiqua (May Allah SWT be well pleased with her) says: I entreated to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Do what the Hajis do, but do not perform Tawaf until you are free of bleeding."

Accordingly, the woman should not enter Masjid Haraam and should not perform Tawaf.  Apart from this, she can go to 'Arafat, Muzdalifa, can perform Rami Jamaar (stoning) and can do everything else.

If the menses end anywhere between 10, 11, or 12th of Dhil Hijjah, then she may perform the Tawaf Ziyarah before the dusk of 12th.  If the menses end after the dusk of 12th, then as soon as the menstrual bleeding ends, she should take a bath and perform Tawaf Ziyarah.  In case of delay, sacrifice of an animal (Dam) becomes compulsory (Wajib).

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) knows best.
