Question: Asslamalaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakutuhu! A person suffers from a condition in which urine keeps coming in drops. So, that person keeps a plastic bag. Can he do so or stop doing so? ............................................................................
Answer: If the said person suffers from dribbling of urine all or most of the times, he should check whether he comes in the category of exemption. The principle given by the Fuqaha (Islamic Law Experts) is that if any person suffers from gases (acidity) or some such problem, which goes on continuously, so much so that that person cannot be free from it even for the time taken to offer Fardh Salaat, then that person is exempted. If that person comes under this category, then to protect his body, clothes and the surroundings from urine droplets, he should use something like a plastic bag or some such thing. As per the given details, if that person is not exempted, but this condition occurs only at particular times, then apart from the times when he would offer Salaat, he may use a plastic bag etc. He should offer Salaat when not even a drop of urine comes.
