f:183 -    Takbeer in Eid Khutba

Question:     What is the ruling of Takbeer in the Khutba of Eid?  How many times should the Takbeer be said?  What happens if any Takbeer is abandoned?

Answer:     It is Commendable to say the Takbeer consecutively 9 times in the first Sermon of Eid and 7 times in the second one and before getting down from the pulpit, the Imam should say the Takbeer 14 times.

All this is Commendable (Mustahab), following which earns reward and leaving which is against the Sunnah.  If any Takbeer is forgotten or missed, the sermon itself is not affected in anyway, but still, it is against the Sunnah to miss the Takbeer.  As given in Radd Ul Muhtaar, Vol 1, Pg No: 91 and Pg No: 617.
