f:136 -    Salaat behind an Ahle Hadith Imam
Country : India,
Name : Ali
Question:     Assalamalaikum wa rahmatullah! My question is can we offer Salaat behind an Ahle Hadith Imam and there is a difference between our timings and their timings.  Can we offer Salaat (like Fajr or Asr), either at home or in the Masjid, on listening to their Adhaan?
............................................................................
Answer:     Salaat behind an Imam whose wrong beliefs have crossed over into disbelief (Kufr) is expressly wrong.  Salaat behind an Imam whose wrong beliefs have not yet reached disbelief is Makruh Tahrimi (Strictly undesirable) and as per one opinion, repeating it is Wajib (Compulsory).

Thus, Salaat behind the "non-followers" (Gair-Muqallideen) is Makruh Tahrimi should be repeated.

The timing of Asr differs between Hanafi & Shafa'ee, Maliki and Hambali schools of Fiqh and each of them have their own evidences.  If you are offering Salaat behind an Imam who follows any of these schools of thought, then you may offer Salaat as per their time, but if you are offering it alone, then you should offer it only when the time for 'Asr as per the Hanafi school of thought starts.

And Allah The Exalted and The Majestic knows best.
