Question: My maternal uncle and aunt have gone for Hajj. In their absence, my wife is managing their hospital. Is it permissible for her to take up employment outside the house after marriage? ............................................................................
Answer: For a woman, Hijab is highly necessary. It is also essential that she defers to her husband. If a woman observes the Hijab completely and takes up employment outside the house with the consent of her husband, the Shariah permits it. Thus, if your wife is observing Hijab and is managing the hospital with your consent, then it is permissible. If she is not observing Hijab or you don’t consent to it, then going to the hospital or anywhere else is not permissible in light of the Shariah. And Allah Most High knows best.
