Question:     In which Hadith did the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) say that the scholars of this Ummah are like the Prophets of the Bani Israil.

Answer:     The Hadith about which you have asked is:

Translation: The scholars of My Ummah are like the Prophets of the Nation of Israil.

This shows the excellence of the scholars.  There are many verses of the Holy Quran and other Hadith about the superiority and excellence of the scholars.

Imam Fakhruddin Raazi (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) has mentioned this Hadith in his exegesis under verses 37 and 38 of Surah Younus.  Hadhrat Mulla ‘Ali Qari (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) has also related this Hadith in MIrqaatul Mafateeh, Vol. 3, Pg. No. 274, Kitaab Ul Manaasik.
