Question: In dairy farms, for reproduction the buffaloes are given injections of male buffalo spermatozoa. Is this method correct? If the female buffaloes become pregnant through this method, will the offspring be permissible? ............................................................................
Answer: There is no issue of chastity among animals nor are there are any rules of paternity for them. Thus, in light of this it is permissible to use injections (artificial insemination) to make the buffaloes conceive. If the buffalo gives birth to offspring through this method, the meat of that offspring is also permissible. If the buffalo starts giving milk, that milk is also permissible. Thus, using artificial insemination among animals is permissible and the meat of the offspring gotten through that method is also permissible and the milk is also permissible.
