Question: Is it correct to say that Imam Hussain (May Allah be well pleased with him) is the base of the religion? ............................................................................
Answer: The Emperor of India, Hadhrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) has written a couplet in honor of Imam Hussain (May Allah be well pleased with him). The last line of that couplet is: Haqqa Ke Binaae La Ilaaha…. Ast Hussain It is correct to take the meaning of the word “Binaa” as structure or as base/foundation. The meaning here is that the forces of falsehood and Yazeed, the accursed, had expended all efforts to strike at the very base of Islam, but Imam Hussain (May Allah be well pleased with him) became the very foundation of truth and defended Islam. Islam is based on his great sacrifice and will remain so until the end of time. The Hadith mention knowledge, Salaat, etc. as the structure and/or foundation of Islam. Neither is it correct to consider Islam as an actual structure nor to consider knowledge, Salaat, etc. as actual foundations. These are metaphors to aid understanding. And Allah Most High knows best.
