f:1200 - Does mother have the right to distribute gold as she wishes to?	Country : KSA, Name : Mazhar Syed

Question: If the son buys gold and gives it to his mother, then does the mother have the right to give that gold to others when she is distributing the property or she has to return it to that son only? ............................................................................
Answer: Islam lays much stress on gifts. If following this Sunnah, the son gifts gold to his mother, then that gold becomes her property. The mother has the right to do whatever she wants to with it. She can give the gold which that son has gifted her to any other child as well. However, if the property is being distributed after the death of the mother, then all the heirs will receive their inheritance as per the guidelines of the Shariah. And Allah knows best.
