f:1114 -    Greeting with Salaam during Adhaan
Country : Kolkata,
Name : Abdullah Qadri
Question:     I was sitting in the mosque and the Adhaan was being given.  A person entered the mosque and greeted everyone with Salaam.  My question is, is it Wajib to return the Salaam which is given while the Adhaan is going on?
............................................................................
Answer:     Adhaan is also a form of remembrance of Allah Most High and if any person greets the other with Salaam when the other is engaged in remembrance of Allah Most High, supplicating before Him, glorifying and extolling Him, then returning that Salaam is not Compulsory (Wajib).

However, it is reasonable to return that Salaam when one has answered the Adhaan.  As given in Radd Ul Muhtaar, Kitaab Us Salaat.

And Allah The Exalted and The Majestic knows best
