Question: Is it permissible to kiss the feet and the hands of parents? ............................................................................
Answer: It is permissible to kiss the hands of a just king, the spiritual mentor (Murshid), parents and teachers. However, it is not correct to place one’s head on their feet or to prostrate i.e. perform Sajdah before them. As given in Durre Mukhtaar, Kitab Ul Khatri Wal Ibaha. Some Fuqaha (jurists) have ruled that kissing the feet of scholars, the pious people and parents is permissible. As given in Fatawa A’alamgiri, Kitab Ul Khatri Wal Ibaha.
