Question: What to do if we find something on the road? ............................................................................
Answer: If you found some article lying on the road and you pick it up, then it is you are being entrusted with that article (Amanaah). It is your responsibility that you return it to its owner. You may announce it at the place you found it, announce this near the Masjid and at other places where people gather. You should do it for the time period for which people normally search for that article. Even after this, you don’t find the owner, then you should give it in charity on behalf of the owner. Even after this, if the owner turns up and demands the article back, paying the amount of that article is binding on you. And Allah Most High knows best.
