f:1014 -    Teaching Holy Quran to children from the last Para
Country : Secunderabad,
Name : Afsar
Question:     Usually children are taught the Holy Quran from the 30th para and this order is completely against the order of the Holy Quran.  Is this correct?
............................................................................
Answer:     The Holy Quran should be recited and taught in the order of the Holy Quran.  Reciting against that order is Makruh (Undesirable).  As far as the matter of teaching the 30th Para to children is concerned, to make the learning and memorization of the Holy Quran, the Fuqaha have ruled it as permissible without any trace of undesirability.

This is because the Surah of the last Para are short when compared to the earlier Surah and as such they can be learned easily and can be recited easily in Salaat.  Reciting the Holy Quran against its order in Salaat is Makruh (Undesirable).  As given in Radd Ul Muhtaar, Vol. 1, Pg No: 404:

Translation:  Reciting the Holy Quran against its order, that is reciting a Surah in the first Raka’at and in the next Raka’at, any of the Surah preceding it, is Makruh, as the order of the Holy Quran is also included in the necessities of reciting the Holy Quran, however, reciting it against its order while teaching children has been ruled as permissible.

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) knows best.
