f:961 -    Rules for Qaza Salaat
Country : Hyderabad,
Name : Naqshbandi
Question:     What are the rules for Qaza Salaat
Answer:     Not offering Salaat at its appropriate time without any valid reason is a major sin.  If a Salaat became Wajib in its own time and was missed, regardless of whether it was missed intentionally, unintentionally, due to sleep or any other reason, the Qaza of these missed Salaat is compulsory.  There is no Qaza for the Salaat missed by women due to menses and/or postpartum bleeding.

The Qaza of Fardh Salaat is Fardh, the Qaza of Wajib Salaat is Wajib and the Qaza of Sunnah Salaat is Sunnah.  However, there is no Qaza for Salaat Ul Eid and Salaat Ul Juma’a.  Excepting the Sunnah of Fajr, there is no Qaza for any missed Sunnah or Nafl Salaat.  Even the Sunnah of Fajr is when it is missed along with the Fardh of Fajr and the Qaza is offered before noon (Zawaal).  If it is missed alone (without Fardh) or the Qaza is offered after noon, then there is no Qaza of Fajr Sunnah.  However, the Nafl which were started and then intentionally abandoned, their Qaza is Wajib.

There is no fixed time for Qaza Salaat.  Excepting the times when Salaat cannot be offered i.e. sunrise, noon and sunset, it can be offered at anytime in the whole life.

If there are too many Qaza Salaat that one has to perform, then first one should specify what day’s Qaza one has to perform.  If this cannot be done, then one can simply say: I offer the Qaza Salaat for the first missed Fajr Salaat” and proceed like this.

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) knows best.
