f:1008 -    Going to Dargah and giving Fatiha
Country : Hyderabad,
Name : Inayath
Question:     Is going to dargah and giving fatiha on food allowed in Islam?
............................................................................
Answer:     Visiting the graves is established by the Sunnah.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would visit Jannatul Baqi.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  I had stopped you from visiting graves.  Now visit them. (Sahih Muslim, Vol. 1, Kitabul Janaiiz)

Imam Ghazali (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) says:  We can seek help after death as well from whom we sought help in their lives.

In Fateha, Surah Fateha, Surah Ikhlaas etc are recited and the reward is gifted.  Gifting the reward of recitation of the Holy Quran , remembrance of Allah, feeding others and other virtuous acts is permissible according to the Shariah and is well established by the Sunnah.

And Allah Most High knows best.
