f:157 -    Relative mistreats parents, what to do?
Country : Hyderabad, India,
Name : Faheem

Question:
If some relative hurts our parents and we don?t want to talk to that relative, is it correct?

.....................................................................................................................................
Answer:
The relative's hurting your parents is not correct and your not talking to them will also be not correct.  You try to convince your relative, maintain your relationship with him and treat him nicely.  There is a Hadith in Jame' Tirmidhi about treating one's relatives nicely:

Translation:  Hadhrat 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (May Allah be well pleased with them) narrates from the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that the one who treats relatives nicely is not the one who treats others as they treat him (or her), but it is the one who joins relationships, when they get broken.  (Jame' Tirmidhi, Vol. 2, Hadith No: 1831)

And Allah knows best.
