f:1193 - Question about Sajdah Tilaawah in Salaat
Country : Adilabad, India, Name : Muhammad Hamza
Question: While offering Salaat, the Imam recited a verse of prostration and prostrated. There was no electricity and I was in the back rows. On hearing the Takbeer of the Imam, I went into Ruku instead. When I realized that others were in prostration, I also prostrated. Please tell me whether my Salaat is valid or not?

Answer:
If the Imam recites a verse of prostration and prostrates and the follower (Muqtadi) mistakenly goes into Ruku’, then he should break his Ruku’ and prostrate. This doesn’t affect the Salaat of the follower. The Salaat will be valid. As you prostrated on realizing that the Imam was in prostration, your Salaat is valid. As mentioned in Durre Mukhtaar, Kitaab Us Salaat, Babu Sujoodit Tilaawah.
And Allah The Most Merciful and The Most Beneficent knows best.
