f:49 -    Going to Dargah and giving Fatiha
Country : ,
Name :
Question:
Is going to dargah and giving fatiha on food allowed in Islam and can we ask the person buried in the dargah to pray for us with Allah SWT

............................................................................
Answer:     Visiting the graves (mazaraat) is Masnoon i.e. it is established by the Sunnah.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) used to visit Jannatul Baqi.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) says:  I had stopped you from visiting graves.  Now visit them. (Sahih Muslim, Vol. 1, Kitabul Janaiiz)

Imam Ghazali (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) says:  We can seek help after death as well from whom we sought help in their lives.

In Fateha, Surah Fateha, Surah Ikhlaas etc are recited and the reward (Thawab) is gifted.  Gifting the reward (Isaal e Thawab) of recitation of the Holy Quran (tilawat), remembrance of Allah SWT (dhikr), feeding others (ta’aam) and other virtuous acts is permissible according to the Shariah and is well established by the Sunnah.
