f:264 -    Buying goods of Haraam wealth
Country : Spain,
Name : Abdur Rahman Khan
Question:     What do the Ulema say about a person who used to lend money on interest and is now running a shop of TVs, water coolers, etc.  Can we buy goods from this shop?  Please clarify.  Much oblige.

............................................................................
Answer:     If the entire property of somebody's business is from unlawful wealth, then buying those things is also impermissible and unlawful.  However, when lawful and unlawful are both mixed, then in this case, the Islamic Law Experts (Fuqaha) have decided on the basis of the greater wealth.  If the greater part of those things have been bought from unlawful wealth, then buying those things is not correct.  If the greater part of it is from lawful wealth, then there is no problem in buying those things.  However, a true believer should not earn money from unlawful means, be it less or more.  As given in Fatawa A'alamgiri, Vol. 5, Pg No. 343.
