f:1214 -    Should wife practice Hijab with the husband who gives her Irrevocable Divorce
Country : Hyderabad, India,
Name : Saeeda Begum

Question:
A person gave 1 Irrevocable Divorce to his wife.  That lady is spending the Iddah in the house of her husband itself.  The question is does that lady have to practice Hijab against her husband or not?

.....................................................................................................................................
Answer:
The moment an Irrevocable Divorce is given, the relation between the husband and wife is terminated.  They become strangers (non-Mahram) for each other.  However, in the case of 1 or 2 Irrevocable Divorce, there is a possibility of remarriage with a new dower.  It is imperative for that lady to spend the Iddah in the house of her husband.

As mentioned in the question, after the Irrevocable Divorce, the man and woman are no more husband and wife.  They are now strangers for each other.  Thus, it is necessary for that lady to practice Hijab against her erstwhile husband.  As mentioned in Durre Mukhtar, Vol. 2, Pg. No. 675.

And Allah Most High knows best.
